Faqs / Anodized, Hard Anodized, Raw… What does it all mean?

We offer several different types of finish from Raw aluminum to hard anodized (Type III) aluminum. Many of our products are also available in multiple colors. We offer color choices so that you can customize you rig to your liking.

So what are the differences between the types of finishes? Well here is the low down.

Raw
This finish is simply raw aluminum that is sealed to prevent staining.
Type II Anodized – Raw
This finish is anodized using the Type II process. There is no color added, but the aluminum will have a darker hue than the natural color. This finish is tougher than raw aluminum.
Type II Anodized – Dyed
This finish is anodized using the Type II process. There is color added and it will be tougher than raw aluminum.
Hard Anodized – Raw
This finish is anodized using Type III process (Hard Anodized). There is no color added, which gives the aluminum yellowish/greenish hue. Type III anodized is the finish typically used in the military (Mil-Spec) and the aircraft industry. It provides a very durable finish.
Hard Anodized – Dyed
This finish is anodized using Type III process (Hard Anodized), and there is color added. Type III anodized is the finish typically used in the military (Mil-Spec) and the aircraft industry. It provides a very durable finish.
